🌿 Her Story
Saint Mary, also known as the Theotokos (Mother of God), is the most revered woman in Christian tradition. Chosen by God for her humility and purity of heart, Mary lived a life of quiet obedience, faith, and deep trust in God’s will.
According to Scripture, the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and give birth to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Though she did not fully understand how this would come to pass, Mary accepted God’s calling with humility, responding, “Let it be done to me according to your word.”
Throughout her life, Mary remained steadfast in faith — from Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, through His ministry, and ultimately standing at the foot of the Cross during His crucifixion. Her unwavering love, courage, and trust in God made her a living example of devotion, sacrifice, and maternal compassion. In her Dormition, the Church honors her peaceful passing into eternal life and her continued intercession for humanity.
Because of her obedience, purity, and enduring love, St. Mary is honored as a symbol of grace, protection, and closeness to God.
