Her/His Story
Saint Anna, was the righteous mother of the Virgin Mary and the grandmother of Jesus Christ. For many years she and her husband Joachim prayed faithfully for a child, trusting in God despite their old age. Their prayers were answered with the birth of Mary, who would later become the Theotokos—the Mother of God. St. Anna is honored in the Orthodox Church for her deep faith, patience, and role in God’s plan of salvation.
