St. Neophytos the Recluse of Cyprus
Her/His Story
Saint Neophytos the Recluse was a 12th-century Cypriot monk known for his deep humility, ascetic life, and spiritual wisdom. Seeking complete devotion to God, he withdrew into solitude and carved a cave into the mountainside near Paphos, where he lived a life of prayer, fasting, and contemplation. Despite his desire for seclusion, many were drawn to his holiness, and he later founded the Monastery of St. Neophytos. He is remembered for his writings, guidance, and example of quiet faith rooted in obedience and love for God.
