Saint Demetrios of Thessaloniki was a 3rd-century Christian martyr and military officer in Thessaloniki. Known for his courage and unwavering faith, he openly confessed Christ during a time of persecution under Emperor Galerius. Despite his rank and influence, St. Demetrios chose loyalty to God over earthly power and was imprisoned and martyred for his faith. He is deeply venerated in the Orthodox Church as a protector, intercessor, and symbol of bravery, justice, and steadfast devotion.
