St. Alexios, the Man of God
Her/His Story
Saint Alexios was a Roman noble who lived during the 4th–5th century and chose a life of deep humility and devotion to Christ. On the night of his wedding, he left behind wealth and comfort to dedicate himself completely to God. Living as a poor pilgrim and beggar, he spent years in prayer and quiet service. Eventually, he returned to his family’s home without revealing his identity, living humbly among them until his death. Only afterward was it discovered that the unknown beggar was their son, making St. Alexios a powerful example of humility, sacrifice, and complete trust in God.
